Pege Gilgannon has been a newsperson in Washington for 42 years. Her favorite story has been the Ballou High School Band. Pege’s last assignment was perfect: covering the Martin Luther King Jr. day parade and the Ballou High School Band. This day, as always, Pege wore a skirt, her trade mark on the street as a Washington videographer.

Still photographers, video journalists, editors, and friends of Pege Gilgannon gathered in Rosslyn to salute Pege on her last day of work at WJLA. Sam Ford was the MC and Pege’s friends stepped forward to tell stories about Pege. Wearing her battery pack belt, (and of course dressed in a skirt), Pege told her friends that she was not going away. She would be in Washington and continue to help on many projects. Currently a big project will be the White House News Photographers video contest.
