The Washington Post writes about a situation at the Air and Space Museum where two WHNPA members were interfered with by security officials. While covering a fast food wage protest at the museum’s McDonalds freelance photojournalist Kristoffer Tripplaar was wrestled to the ground while Associated Press video journalist Bill Gorman was forced out of the building by Smithsonian security. According to the article the Smithsonian security ordered the press to stop filming despite it being during normal business hours and the museum being open to the public. According to the article Smithsonian spokesman John Gibbons said the incident is being reviewed. Gibbons also cited a double standard where the general public’s has right to shoot video and take photos but members of the press need approval and an escort.
