Jennifer Crandall

Jennifer Crandall is a freelance video producer, shooter, and editor who consults as a video content strategist and developer. She was a Senior Multimedia journalist at The Washington Post, a Senior Video Editor at The Video Journalism Movement in the Netherlands, and the Creative Director for Video at Salon.com. While at The Washington Post she conceived of and produced an Emmy nominated video series called onBeing –a project profiling the powerful stories hidden in the quiet of people who don’t tend to make the news. Her work is noted for its intimacy and innovation in storytelling form. It has received a Knight-Batten Special Distinction Award, an Online News Association Award for Innovation, recognition from the American Film Institute with a Silverdocs’ Best Short Feature Film Audience Award, and awards from the White House News Photographers Association. Most recently Jennifer has been working with the editorial staff of the Alabama Media Group on creative content development and visual storytelling.

Tom Kennedy

Tom Kennedy is an internationally known visual journalist with 35 years of print and online journalism experience, including positions as Managing Editor for Multimedia at washingtonpost.com and Director of Photography at the National Geographic Society. He has created, directed, and edited visual journalism projects that have earned Pulitzer Prizes, as well as EMMY, Peabody, and Edward R. Murrow awards.

Currently, he is an independent consultant coaching and mentoring individual photographers. He is also working with various organizations to train individuals and teams on multimedia story creation, production, publication and distribution strategies for digital platforms. He regularly teaches at universities and multimedia conferences, and advises about recruiting, coaching, and managing creative talent for optimal performance.

Most recently, he was the Managing Editor/Digital for PBS NewsHour. Prior to that, for two years, he was on the faculty of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University as the endowed Alexia Foundation chair in the multimedia, photography, and design department.
Kennedy has been a featured speaker at some of the most prestigious journalism conferences and media workshops around the world, while also consulting to various academic institutions and international media companies on topics ranging from media management to multimedia storytelling and innovating within a corporate environment.

Kennedy serves on the Board of Directors for the Eddie Adams Photo Workshop and has been on the Board of Visitors for journalism programs at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, the University of Florida and the Knight Center in the School of Communications at the University of Miami.
Kennedy graduated cum laude wit ah a degree in journalism from the University of Florida.

Miki Meek

Miki Meek is a radio producer at This American Life. She interned and then freelanced at the show before joining the show’s staff in 2012. Prior to that, Miki started her career in journalism during college as a newspaper stringer for The Salt Lake Tribune. She then took a job in as an online producer and editor from at National Geographic, where she specialized in interactive and visual storytelling and helped launch the magazine’s first website. Miki played a similar role at The New York Times from 2008 to 2011, and won two Emmy awards for new approaches to documentary programming.
